Step One – Prepare for your Alpha course

It is helpful to have at least 2 months to plan and prepare before starting a course. Here are a few things we would suggest you have securely in place.

Contact your Regional Director, National Office or Alpha Advisor. They can help you in setting up your first course. In most cases, they can assist you in providing the Small Group Leader Training or suggest people who have had their lives transformed on the course to give their testimony at your Celebration Dinner Event. Talk to your church leadership. If you are not the church leader, make sure you have their support and blessing. Have them watch the short introductory video, "What is Alpha?” (see top right button on this page).  Take a look at “Alpha’s Impact on the Local church - Four Inspiring Stories” booklet. Appoint your Alpha Leadership Team. The key person to identify is the Administrator who does all the work behind the scenes making sure that all aspects of the course are being attended to. There also needs to be an Alpha Course Director that has the overall pastoral responsibility for the course. Often they lead each Alpha session and oversee the training sessions. Sometimes they are one in the same role but often these are two distinct roles.

Contact our e-prayer team so our dedicated intercessors can begin to pray for you and your team. We would also strongly encourage you to establish prayer support at you church/group from the outset. This is a spiritual battle and we need to be aware that we have an enemy who will want to hinder with any work that is bringing people into a living relationship iwth Jesus. Read Ephesians 6 and it is never to early to start to pray.
