Global Alpha Training

FAQ

What is GAT?
Global Alpha Training (GAT) is localised training delivered in a localized style. It has been designed to equip and empower people from churches that run and love Alpha courses to train others where there is a training need:

Where do GAT events take place?
Teams go wherever there is a training need around the world, at home or abroad. Other teams will partner with missionary contacts in a particular region to coordinate a GAT event, sometimes in conjunction with other short term mission activities.

How do I put together the talks?
Good news - the talks are put together for you and can be downloaded upon registering to participate on an event. GAT could be called "Alpha Training in a Suitcase", as GAT teams are provided with training, programs and transcripts of the GAT talks. All you need to do is add your experience and passion!

Who can go on a GAT?
Anyone who has participated on Alpha and has an interest in training others to run Alpha can participate on a GAT.

How can we fundraise for our GAT event?
This is an opportunity for you and your team to be creative! From sending out letters to family and friends, to sponsoring a cultural night with ethnic food and dancing, or a speed dating evening teams have found all different types of ways to raise money for their trips.

What address do I put on my visa application if I haven't booked accommodation yet?
We recommend that you put the name and address of your local coordinator.

What immunizations do I need before going on my GAT?
Required immunizations will vary depending on the country that you are traveling to. Please check with your local doctor/nurse. There are also many online resources that outline required and suggested immunizations for countries.

How do we go about booking our airfare?

GAT teams are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.  There are several organizations around the country that can assist in booking tickets and travel resources for missionary and religious affairs.

Below are two organizations that we are aware of that you might find helpful.

Can I change the talk transcripts?
No. It is important that you use the provided transcripts and you may not change the content. We do suggest that you add personal stories and anecdotes to make the talk your own.

How can I sign up to participate on a GAT?
Please register your team online.
