learn to be Alpha leaders in the New York region. As prior guests on the course they were ready to take their course to a new level. We expect the Lord to use them mightily in the days to come!

Getting Started Seminar Agape Church of God, Springfield Gardens, N.Y. Feb 11, 2012
It all began in November of 2011 when leaders from the Church of God met with alpha CEO Gerard Long to talk about reaching communities with Alpha. The course was introduced on Feb 4th to 200 members and leaders at their annual retreat. The following week the training was held at Agape Church of God in Springfield Gardens. 96 people attended from at least 12 churches. Bishop c. Milton Granuum who runs the alpha course at New Covenant Church in Philadelphia was the keynote speaker. The Spirit moved in power during the ministry time with many coming forward to be filled once more. The day concluded as all were commissioned once more to the work of evangelism.

Christmas 2011 Celebration for Alpha Long Island
On Friday December 6th team members who have served Alpha Long Island during the year came together to celebrate what the Lord brough forth during the year. Team members are intercessors, board members or part of the travleing training teams. We are grateful for each one.

Getting Started held in Malverne, N.Y. on September 17, 2011
37 people from 8 churches came together for full day of training learning how to begin the Alpha Course. We are blessed to meet and train new leaders. Our team consisted of Pastor Jerry Bonfiglio, Pastor Nick Franco, Pastor Josh Moody, Ruth Ringhoff, Frio Spampinato and LInda Bulloss.

This summer Pastor Kelvin Bernard from Faith Life Ministry facilitated a Gifts of Love event at his church in conjunction with Lord of the Harvest Ministries. 95 seekers attended and 45 of them responded to the Gospel message and altar call! Currently several of the converts have gone through Alpha Express and many are now attending the Sunday Service. A second Alpha course is in progress this month.

I began attending Shelter Rock Church in April 2011. During the sermon the Alpha Program was introduced and the congregation was invited to attend. I decided to participate. I found the videos by Nicky Gumbel to be very informative and inspiring. After watching the videos we broke into small groups for discussion. I, also, found this experience to be helpful.
Though not the official title, the theme of one of the sessions was “Jesus Loves Me.” After watching the video and hearing Nicky Gumbel express himself in relation to Jesus and the Bible, I felt as if I heard the story for the first time in my life. Even though I’ve been a Christian and attended various churches for most of my life, I felt as though somehow the true message never came through for me. This time it did.
The Program offered a retreat during the 10th session entitled “How Can I Be Filled with the Spirit.” It was a wonderful experience. For the first time in my life I became aware that the Holy Spirit had entered me and would lead me on a better path and continue to be with me. What a blessing I received that day. I continue to experience the presence of the Spirit and can ask for guidance and help as I go through my days.
I highly recommend the Alpha Program to anyone who seeks to have a closer relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and wishes to learn more about the Christian faith.

"A young woman from China came to New York to study Philosophy as a scholar. She had no faith and her family were atheists. She found Bridges International, a Christian organization, by means of email. The email listed topics from the Alpha Course. She was most interested in the topic "Why did Jesus Die?" She responded to the invitation that was included and came to the course. During the course she learned about God's agape love. That there is a universal, unconditional, self giving, not self seeking love found in God. She found that philosophy's attempt to prove God's existence through concepts ultimately failed. Only thorough an experience of His love was she able to conclude His reality. She thought that if God's love is real it must be tested and proven. She found His love to be persuasive. She liked the humor and the logical way the course is presented. She states "My heart has been transformed by God's love. Now my heart is filled with His love." One night after coming home from an Alpha session she called her mom in China. She had written down some verses from the Bible and spoke them to her mom and she cried. She explained what she had learned and her mom accepted Christ. She said that she was not persuaded by mere words but by the power of God's love through the words, His words and not hers. "
