Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I find out if an Alpha invitation is already being planned in my area?

2. What is an Alpha Invitation area?

An Invitation area is defined geographically by city or county.  It could be on a wide scale, for example, Twin Cities, MN, or a group of churches that are running Alpha within a city or two cities near each other, for example, Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, MI.

There could be one hub Invitation site, such as the Mid-Atlantic, PA and DE with many Invitations within that site.  In 2009 the Mid-Atlantic ran different Alpha Invitations across four counties.

3. How many churches do you need to run an Alpha Invitation?

Alpha Invitations have been run with as few as 2-3 churches and as many as 175 churches.  The promotional campaign in a town or city, should be run where there will be opportunities for people to attend an Alpha course near them.

4. Can I create my own Alpha Invitation campaign?

Please use the Alpha Invitation campaign that has been developed and tested by the Alpha USA team.  This presents a unified and consistent message to potential Alpha guests across the country.

The Fall Alpha Invitation campaign has a Questions theme and features Bear Grylls (presenter on Man vs. Wild) >>

5. What are the best promotions to use?

Try to be as creative as possible to encourage people in your local community to ask questions and investigate the Alpha course.  You can download this pdf of promotional suggestions.
An large-scale outdoor campaign is optimal - bus tails, billboards, but if your budget does not stretch to that try doing a poster, car magnet or yard sign campaign which can be just as effective.

6. How can I get high resolution artwork to run an advertisment in my local newspaper or magazine?
