Global Alpha Training

"Taking teams to lead a GAT ignites our own people to do Alpha better...."

Peru GAT 1A team of seven from Christ Church in Denver, CO just returned from a GAT in Peru. “We have seen God use Alpha powerfully in our own community and we want to share it as a ministry tool with other churches. Taking teams to lead a GAT ignites our own people to do Alpha better, and we are always inspired and challenged to see how God is moving in other cultural contexts,” stated team member Jamie Helwick.

Christ Church has been in relationship with the Diocese in Peru for several years and supports a missionary couple there. "When the missionaries were visiting the U.S. this summer we told them about Alpha. They thought it would be a good tool for the churches in Peru, so they talked about it with the local church leaders and we received an invitation from the Anglican Bishop in Peru," says Helwick.

After 3 days of training the team was thrilled to see the energy and excitement of the Peruvian church leaders as they made their action plan to begin Alpha in their churches.

In addition to the excitement of sharing the tool of Alpha with the church leaders in Peru, there was a tremendous sense of unity between Kingdom minded people. Helwick says, “There was a sense of mutual encouragement between our team and the local church leaders. We all have specific ministries in our own contexts and we were able to pray for one another and challenge each other to be faithful in what God is calling each of us to do. I think this is the thing that impacted our team the most-- recognizing that we are all in this together as the global Body of Christ. God is speaking and moving everywhere and we are invited to join him in his work. As His people, when we encourage each other to be faithful in where He has called us, we bring the Kingdom in a powerful way.”
