Alpha for Youth at seven NE Catholic Parishes
Interview with Peter Carpentier
Since 2006 Peter Carpentier has developed resources and trained parish leaders in the North Shore, South Shore, NH, and RI to run Alpha for Youth. Many use Alpha for Youth as part of Confirmation preparation. The youth find it engaging, they experience conversion, and they come back to serve on the team for the next courses. Check out their video stories here.
St. Michael Church, N. Andover, MA
Interview with Bill Barron
Bill Barron led 15 Alpha courses starting in 2000. Sacred Heart in Lawrence had an average of 40 guests per course. After the parish was closed, Bill offered Alpha at St. Michael in North Andover where about 40-80 guests attended each course. Some were from outside the church, but most were lapsed Catholics. Various Alpha and Catholic follow up courses were used and Alpha was spread to many other churches.
Alpha for Youth at two Detroit Parishes with Latino congregations
Report by Deacon Steve Mitchell
The pastor of St. Stephen, Fr. Haby Marieelie told us:
I was introduced to Alpha in Paris where it is literally bringing people back to our empty Churches there. Here in Detroit, people are coming to fuller faith as they encounter the Lord Jesus in a deep and personal way. Many people’s faith comes alive while attending an Alpha course. People enter more deeply into the Sacramental life of the Church. Many hearts are converted and people come to support the parish by offering their gifts of time, talent and treasure to the mission of the Church.
