Who Is All The Work For?
The more I am involved with ministry, the more I get a better idea, a more complete picture of what working in ministry entails, and the more I realize: It ain't easy (yes, I know “ain't” is not a word, but its for emphasis!). Now don't get me wrong, I love doing ministry with all my heart. Serving others while worshiping God is an amazing thing. But like with all jobs, there are parts that are tough.
I know when I was growing up I thought being a pastor was the coolest thing in the world. You got to talk with people all the time and you only worked one day a week! Yeah....now after interning with both my college group, Fuel, back home, and here with Vintage, I have learned there is a lot of hard work to be done. Take this week for example. On Tuesday I volunteered to make the food for Westminster Chapel's college group. But little did I know that it would entail running back and forth in the church finding a propane take, finding a lighter, finding soda..... but it didn't get to me. Why? Because it is not about the work. It is about God. I was doing it for Him, so it didn't matter what happened. Now my example is light compared to stories I'm sure you have (feel free to comment and share below), but the principle is the same. If you remember it's about God, not about you, no burden of work is too heavy. |
