A Note from Nicky Gumbel

Dear Friend

Pippa and I are so excited about our trip to Calvary Church, Naperville, IL for the first ever Americas Week, with the Alpha Conference taking place on Tuesday June 22 and Wednesday June 23.

The week – which is open to everyone, whether you have never run Alpha or if you have run it 50 times – will provide an opportunity for you to spend time with other Alpha church leaders in your region and meet with the ministry pioneers. The program for the week is packed, featuring an Alpha Conference, Alpha ministry training day, Marriage course training, Vision casting sessions, a wide variety of Seminars, Country feedback sessions, meetings with delegates and much more besides. This will be a time to come together and learn from one another, which is why it is so fantastic that for the first time delegates from North America will be joined by many friends from Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean.

We believe this event will be a great opportunity to learn about Alpha and the impact which running your own Alpha course can have on your church. Here at Holy Trinity Brompton, we welcome thousands of guests (the majority of whom would not describe themselves as Christians) each year to our Alpha courses and see many come to faith in Jesus and invite their friends on the next course. We find the vast majority of those who are interested in doing the course are between the ages of 18-35 and the average age of our Alpha courses is 27.

This has made it possible for our congregation to “plant” new churches all over London – churches which themselves are growing through running Alpha courses.

Foundational to each and every course we run is the focussed training offered to every individual involved in the running of the courses. We consider this training to be vital.  The Alpha Americas Conference will be a whole week of condensed training. We really hope you will join us.
