Senior Pastors, Let’s be honest. All of us are “for” evangelism, but many of our churches are not truly converting the lost. We aim for conversion growth but settle for transfer growth. We’d like to see the kind of outreach in our churches that we thought we signed up for when we entered ministry.

 

The Alpha course can help you change this scenario.  If given the proper position and context in your congregation you can enable the Alpha course to thrive by unleashing the power of the gospel. The churches that have thriving Alpha courses are truly reaching scores of non-believers and non-churched people. We can help you and your church succeed in your outreach mission, through Alpha, by looking at the unique role that the senior pastor plays with the Alpha course, and by practicing a few key tricks-of-the-trade.

 

We invite you to come together in this Symposium, with other senior pastors from other Alpha churches in our region, to share in a vision and plan that can shape our Alpha courses into dynamic outreach tools in our congregations, and bring about a transformation of our society. Please feel free to bring along with you a small team of your associate pastors, Alpha leaders or other key staff from your church.

 

The purpose here is to help mission-minded churches move from “transfer growth” to “conversion growth.” We believe one way to accomplish this is to provide a forum for senior pastors and their teams to share best practices between very effective Alpha churches and less effective Alpha churches, and to better equip senior pastors in Alpha churches with the insight to effectively position the Alpha course to unleash the power of the gospel, and to create a culture of outreach within the church.
