May 20-21, 2010 - Holy Trinity Brompton, London

The Holy Spirit has sometimes been called the "forgotten member of the Trinity" and over the years less attention has been paid by theologians to the Spirit than the Father and the Son. At the same time, there has been an increase interest in the work of the Spirit in the church, and many would say, we are seeing a fresh outpouring of the Spirit.

This conference will bring together leading theologians to discuss the role of the Holy Spirit in the church and world today.  The conference will look at questions like:
  •  How does the Spirit work in the church?
  •  In what ways in the Spirit at work in the wider culture and workplace?
  •  How does the Spirit relate to the Trinitarian life of God?
  •  How does the Spirit relate to the mission of the church?
  •  Is the Spirit at work in other faiths?
  •  How does the Spirit affect Christian life and ethical choices?
  •  What does "openness to the Spirit" mean?
This will be an academic conference with a difference, providing the best possible theological input and discussion in the context of worship, prayer and ministry. The aim is to bring together thinking about God while engaging with God. The conference will also include seminar times for short papers and interactive discussion.

The conference will be hosted by St Paul’s Theological Centre and Holy Trinity Brompton. Speakers will include: Jürgen Moltmann, David Ford, Archbishop Rowan Williams, and Miroslav Volf.
