Paying it Forward
Alpha guest, featured on Yahoo! news this week, now mother to Haitian twins just three years after losing her husband on the 35W bridge collapse.

Betsy Sathers led a quiet life. She and her husband went to church only occasionally when a friend asked her to come to an Alpha course. She formed a strong friendship with her small group and most importantly came into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. August 2007, Betsy was eagerly awaiting her newlywed husband to come home so they could go and buy a new car together. Then she heard the tragic news of the Minneapolis 35W bridge collapse. And her heart sank as she realized he might never return home again. He did not. He was one of the thirteen people who died on the bridge that day.
"I wasn't sure if I would ever be a wife again, and I was really all right with that. But I knew that I wanted to be a mom and I thought about it and I prayed about it a long, long time," Sathers said. January 2009 she began the process of adopting from Haiti. She was in Haiti this past New Year's just days before the devastating earthquake visiting her two year old twins. The amazing story of how she and her twins were reunited was featured in Yahoo! news this week. To read the whole article and view photos, click here.
You never know when your Alpha course will be a part of 'Paying it Forward' for another person. In this situation, Besty came as guest, fell in love with Jesus and was added to the Body of Christ in a deeply meaningful way. This gave her courage to walk through the darkest pain and fear, as well as now welcome these Haitian twins into her life forever. Here is her Alpha testimony.
