An Alpha evening should generally follow this timetable. Please adapt the starting time to suit your local needs.
6:00 pm
Prayer and Administration Meeting
Leaders and Helpers arrive for the Prayer and Administration meeting. An exception would be if a Leader or Helper has invited a guest and they feel it is important to come with them the first night.
6:30 pm
Team in place
Greeters – Warmly greet people as they enter.
Registration table - the Alpha Director and one or more volunteers should be at this table to help the guests find their nametags and/or register
Runners - Take people to get punch (optional) and introduce them to a table leader
Table Leaders - Please stay at your table and greet the guests as they arrive.
Music - Either have live music: solo guitar, piano or small band playing background music.
7:00 pm
Meal served Guests are invited to sit, preferably at pre-assigned seats so as to alleviate confusion and anxiety for the guests. Begin serving the food. Guests eat while servers circulate, offering drink refills and tending to guest needs. Reminder: We suggest not praying before the meals each week. Why?

Welcome The Alpha Director greets everyone and explains the evening agenda. They may choose to show the “Mr. Bean Goes to Church” video. Available on The Best Bits of Mr. Bean DVD on Amazon.com.

Testimonies Course Leader or Director to interview 2-3 former Alpha participants to share their testimonies.
Using Testimonies on an Alpha Course
8:00 pm
The talk Alpha Leader or Director says a bit more about the course and introduces the talk “Is there More to Life?" (formerly entitled "Christianity: Boring, Untrue and Irrelevant?”) This talk can be given via DVD (available on Alpha Resources) or by a live speaker.
8:45 pm
Concluding invitation Thank everyone for coming. Guests are invited to register for the upcoming course. Have brochures/registration forms and pens available at the tables. Make sure you have "Why Jesus?" booklets on the tables for the guests to take home.
